Reproductive Freedom
National Council of Jewish Women is committed to creating a world where all people, regardless of race, class, gender, sexuality, ability, or immigration status, have the right to build their families and live their lives with dignity.
Our Jewish experience tells us that our reproductive freedoms are integrally bound to our religious liberty; we are committed to advancing the goals of reproductive justice so that every person can make their own moral and faith-informed decisions about their body, health, and family.
Since its founding, NCJW has been a leader in the reproductive health and rights movement, and while much advancement has been made in the past 100 years to legally secure a person’s right to contraception and abortion, there is so much more that needs to be done to truly ensure reproductive freedom for all.

New Legal Threats, Frontline Courage
As part of the nation-wide Annual Repro Shabbat, San Antonio hosted Molly Duane and Dr. Alan Braid.
Molly Duane is a nationally recognized attorney who addressed current and impending restrictions on medical abortion in Texas and across the United States. Ms. Duane has dedicated her career to advocating for women denied critical medical care during pregnancy and served as the senior attorney in Zurawski v. Texas, the case later featured in the award-winning documentary to the left on this page.
Dr. Alan Braid is a longtime San Antonio OB/GYN who practiced for nearly 50 years, providing comprehensive reproductive health care, including abortion services. Following the implementation of SB 8, Dr. Braid made the courageous decision to relocate his practice to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he later opened additional clinics to continue serving patients traveling from states where care is no longer accessible.
In the fight for reproductive freedom, NCJWSA is a national grant recipient.
